Friends of the Library organizations exist in many Kansas communities. Friends organizations are groups of citizens who join together to support, improve, and promote the library.

Friends of the Library help in a number of ways. Friends offer financial support for a special library program or service, advocate for the library budget or library capital project, and volunteer assistance with children’s summer reading programs and other services as requested by the Library Director and supported by the Library Board of Trustees.

GOALS of the Friends of the Augusta Public Library

  • To develop services and facilities for the Augusta community
  • To generate monetary funding for the Augusta Public Library
  • To increase resources and books
  • Fellowship with other Library Friends

We meet these goals by fundraising through memberships, the used book sale and the sale of Library book bags.

In regards to Community Service, the Friends serve in the following ways:

  • Book Discussions
  • Support Snackin’ with Santa
  • Support Children’s Summer Reading Club
